Placing a Bird

If you are interested in rehoming your bird, please send us an email
answering the following questions about your bird to
braveheartdogs@sbcglobal.net.  If we have space, we may accept
your bird into our program.  If we are unable to take your bird,
please see the guidelines below for rehoming your own bird.

    Birds name:                                Species:
    Age:
Does your bird have any health issues?
Does your bird have any behavioral issues?
    Can your bird be handled?
Does your bird allow you to remove it from it's cage?
Do you consider your bird noisy?
Do you consider your bird aggressive?

We will be in contact with you to let you know if we are able to take
your bird.  If we are not, here are some helpful tips in rehoming
    your bird yourself.

*Interview the potential adopter thoroughly.  Find out if they have
had birds before and if they have and no longer have them what
    happened to those birds.

*Require that they sign a contract and agree to return your bird to
you if they can no longer keep it.  You don't want your bird to end
up in an animal shelter or humane society.

*Require that they pay you an adoption fee.  If they cannot afford to
pay an adoption fee they probably can't afford to keep a bird.

*If you don't have a cage to send with the bird, require them to
bring the cage they intend to put the bird in with them so you can
see it in person.  Many people choose cages that are way too
    small for birds.

*Educate them on bird care including proper feeding and training
information.  If you don't have this information see our resources
page so that they may find help that way.
