People will sometimes as if we guarantee that our services will work with their dog. We wish we could make such claims, but to do so would be professionally unethical and irresponsible. The success depends on many things including the individual dog's history, genetics, as well as the owners commitment and compliance. We teach owners to modify behavior by using proven, science based, humane, positive reinforcement methods. We have had much success in changing behavior using these methods. However, in order for the dog's behavior to change, the owner's behavior must also change. In other words, it will take some effort on the owner's part to modify the dog's behavior. So, for this reason, we can't ethically guarantee your dog's success. There are simply too many variables that we cannot control.
There is a $25 fee for no shows (plus travel expense if out of the immediate area). We ask for at least 2 hours notice if you need to cancel an appointment. Please be advised that you will be charged a no show fee if you fail to show up without calling or without at least 2 hours notice.

Private Behavioral/Problem Solving Sessions These private sessions are designed for clients with dogs who need work with a specific behavioral issue such as fearful dogs, leash reactivity, potty training, barking or a specific obedience behavior such as coming when called or walking on a loose leash. Depending on the issue we are working on and the severity of the issue, follow up sessions may be necessary.

This package is offered for clients who are looking for beginning obedience training on a private level in the client's home or at our training facility. This package includes (3) sessions one hour sessions. Clients will be taught how to teach their dog a variety of behaviors including sit, lie down, come here, off, out, stay and others. Minor behavioral issues can also be discussed during these private sessions. $325 for the entire package We network and consult with some of the most experienced, reputable and qualified behavior specialists in the Bay Area. If we can't help you with your dog, we will put you in contact with a trainer who knows how to deal with your dogs individual issue using scientific, effective, dog friendly methods.
Our private puppy sessions allow clients to have in home help with puppy issues. We can discuss and work on whichever specific puppy issues the client is having. We can also help set up the home before or after the puppy arrives or oversee first meeting and interaction with resident dog. $150 for a 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour session (follow up sessions are $100 per hour)
While we recommend that all puppies attend our Puppy Preschool classes, we understand that this is not always possible. This package includes three 1 hour sessions in your home. We will help you set up your puppy areas, puppy proof your home, and discuss puppy issues such as play biting, housebreaking and crate training. We will also work on basic beginning behaviors such as sit, down, come here, out, off and walking on a leash. I am happy to spend a portion of the puppy package helping owners set up their homes for the puppy. I will come to the home before the puppy comes to help prepare for the puppy. And, when it's necessary and possible schedule-wise I can come to the home when the puppy is actually brought home to oversee interaction with resident dogs or to set up. $325 for the entire package
We offer telephone consultations for clients who need help before their group class starts or before we can meet for a consultation, or if a client as an issue that can be effectively dealt with over the phone. Telephone consultations are not appropriate for basic training or for behavior issues that require close work with your trainer. Please read this before attending conformation classes or contacting us for conformation For clients who want to learn to show their own dogs, we can coach you for conformation or show ring training. We can help you decide what class to show in, which shows to enter, what to wear, and how to handle your own dog. You may also opt to bring your dog for 1 hour conformation lessons where we will work with your dog for you while you observe. Some clients even opt to drop their dogs off for the 1 hour session while they have lunch or shop. This training is helpful for clients who have their breeder handle their dog but want the dog to have some show ring training. Initial session is $110 for the hour (includes a copy of Vicki's book Positive Training for Show Dogs, then $100 per hour (or $50 for 1/2 hour) Package of 3 private 1 hour sessions $290 must be paid at the time of the first visit to get package price (sorry no packages for 1/2 hour sessions) If you have two friends (for a total of three people) who would like to do the Clicker Conformation Class, we will put together a private class for you and your two friends. The cost is $200 per person. Conformation telephone consult For people who need conformation coaching and/or have questions regarding the techniques used in my book, I offer telephone consults. Telephone consults are available only to people living out of state. To book a phone consult, email us and we will schedule an appointment time for you to call. $50 for 30 minutes Competition Obedience and Rally Private Lessons/Coaching One on one, private sessions for clients who want to compete in competition obedience or rally obedience. $100 per hour Private Grooming Instruction For clients who need help with basic grooming of their dogs or puppies. We will meet in your home or at our San Leandro location. The session will help you understand what equipment is appropriate, what shampoos to use, how to clip nails, brush teeth and more. This service is NOT intended to take the place of regular grooming or veterinary visits, only to show you how to care for your dogs coat (and ears, teeth and nails) in between professional visits. We will not train people to clip, scissor or style coat or clean teeth. We will not groom your pet for you. We will not give grooming instruction for aggressive dogs. $100 per hour In Your Home Nail Trims For clients who need assistance with their dog's nail trims, we can come into your home and clip or dremel your dog's toenails in the comfort of their own home. We will not clip nails on aggressive dogs. $25 per nail trim $20 for additional dogs at the same home (resident dogs only) This service is available only to San Leandro and Castro Valley residents While You Watch Training You bring the dog to our San Leandro facility and we will work the dog for you. You can watch us train your dog and then practice at home. $100 per hour We regularly service San Leandro, San Lorenzo,Hayward, Castro Valley, Oakland, Alameda, Berkeley, Pleasanton, Dublin and other surrounding areas. For some of these areas or other areas where we have to travel more there may be an additional travel fee.

FREE SERVICES - COMMUNITY SERVICES Breed Choice Selection Consulting Having trained most breeds and worked with them through grooming and veterinary assisting, I can help you find the right breed for you. If you have questions about breed choices, or certain types of dogs, you can email me with questions about specific breeds, their general characteristics and traits and how to best go about finding a dog. No charge for this service School Dog Training Presentation Braveheart Dog Training is happy to offer presentations on dog training and positive reinforcement training to public schools in our community. We will bring along children friendly dogs to visit with the children and give the children an introduction to dog training. No charge for this service |
